Architecture

Our buildings are more than just the sum of their spaces and functions.

Beyond client needs, they also connect to natural surroundings, improve occupant wellbeing, and serve to delight and inspire their communities as landmarks imbued with cultural identity and local spirit.

With sustainability and resiliency an ever-pressing concern, so have we augmented our energy-efficient solutions to tackle embodied carbon and their life cycles, with an outlook towards more sustainable materials, waste management and circularity on each project.

Quality Assurance

Cost Control and Contract
Administration

Our sustainability-driven approach and continued engagement with the construction industry gives us unprecedented access to the latest building technologies and materials, and the contractors, specialists and suppliers who are a part of this evolving ecosystem.

In doing so, we can develop green building solutions both efficient and cost-effective, utilising class-leading parametric tools such as Rhino and BIM for design, value engineering and cost control essential in today’s dynamic construction market.

Upon successful award of tender, HIJJAS’ seasoned contract administrators will be on hand to ensure a building is constructed to specification and regulatory compliance. As part of the project delivery team, we uphold a collaborative approach to facilitate expedient completion and give unbiased oversight for the express benefit of a project, its stakeholders and the surroundings it ultimately informs.

Masterplanning

Buildings are a major part of the oft convoluted system of systems that is the built environment. At HIJJAS, we believe that only with clear holistic strategies in energy, connectivity and mobility, liveability and environment, can we address modern and legacy urban planning to shape the smart and resilient cities needed for today and tomorrow.

Our planning philosophy shares similar roots in architecture, in that cultural signifiers of people and place are integral facets of urban design. Meaningful civic spaces analogous to a vibrant democratised public realm are purposefully woven into the urban fabric, to reflect cultural and economic development of the area.

Environment & Ecology

Our blue-green approach represents another key aspect of town and city planning. In an era of increasing climate intensity, our role becomes ever more important in the effort to decarbonise new and existing townships while simultaneously incorporating resiliency to withstand severe weather events.

Be it a grass roof, suburban pocket gardens or full-blown city parks, civic greenery has been elemental to HIJJAS planning since our inception.

From cooler microclimates to decreased heat island effects, large-scale greenification has the power to affect positive change by catalysing community engagement and promoting health and wellbeing augmented by natural shade, lakes and other water bodies.

The benefits of a regenerative environment stretch beyond the social domain, as with selective flora strategies we can increase public realm biodiversity, restoring habitats and promoting the return of native species that enrich our urban ecological system.

Mobility & Place

21st century living has hastened the arrival of electrified personal transport as government impetus drives the global 2050 net zero agenda. Yet the fact of a rising single occupant car-driving population remains in spite of ICE vehicle downtrend. As the EV market matures, so are economies of scale achieved thus putting more cars on roads.

The future of urban planning lies in manifesting car-lite environments enabled by integrated public transportation and smart mobility solutions.

A transit-oriented development approach is a staple of HIJJAS planning, designed with light rail, bus and feeder transportation, optimised public parking and last-mile mobility in mind that frees up civic space and encourages pedestrianisation.
