With a prolific career that spans over three decades, Serina is a formidable figure in Malaysia’s evolving building and construction landscape. Following a successful formative stint at Foster + Partners UK, she returned to join HIJJAS in 1991 and has been instrumental in charting its new direction. Her guiding principles of narrative and technological innovation helped the firm bag prestigious commissions such as the iconic Menara Telekom, the Securities Commission HQ, the Putrajaya International Convention Centre and the seminal Sasana Kijang building for Bank Negara Malaysia.
Since taking over HIJJAS’ stewardship in 2011, Serina has channelled her energies as a proponent of ecological urbanism and sustainability into enhancing the firm’s capabilities in green architecture, nature-based solutions, urban resiliency, and community liveability.
